The ban comes after previous instances of violent behavior by both Lyon and Marseille fans, including violence against law enforcement and the use of explosives. The ban will be in effect from midnight Sunday until midnight Monday. The French Interior Ministry also cited the reduced availability of resources after the Olympic Games and ongoing protests and increased terrorist threats as reasons for the ban.
