UN rights chief claims detonation of Hezbollah comms devices could be a war crime

The United Nations has stated that the detonation of communication devices in Lebanon could be considered a war crime. The explosions, which targeted devices used by the Hezbollah terrorist organization, killed dozens and caused panic in the country. The UN's High Commissioner for Human Rights called for an independent investigation into the attacks. Lebanese authorities have blamed Israel for the explosions and Hezbollah has vowed retribution. Israel has not commented on the blasts but has announced its intention to widen the scope of the war with Hamas in Gaza to include the Lebanon front.
