'Atrocious' Sudan war pushing refugees further afield: UNHCR chief

The UN's refugee chief has expressed concern over the future of Sudan as the country's civil war continues to displace millions of people. Since the war began in April 2023, over 10 million people have been forced from their homes, with two million fleeing Sudan. Filippo Grandi, head of the UNHCR, highlighted the increasing number of Sudanese refugees arriving in non-bordering Uganda and Libya, and warned that many may attempt to reach Europe by boat. Grandi called for more humanitarian aid for Sudan and emphasized that the crisis is impacting the entire region.
