Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, an official in the internationally recognized Yemeni administration, stated that airstrikes by the US and UK have not weakened the Houthi group. He believes that the strikes are actually helping the Houthis by garnering sympathy and support. Al-Zubaidi called for better coordination between the Presidential Leadership Council and Western powers to combat the threat the Houthis pose to regional security. He also mentioned that a power-sharing agreement offered to the Houthis last year is no longer viable. The US and UK launched Operation Prosperity Guardian in December to protect shipping routes from Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.
