Twelve pro-Iranian fighters have been killed in air strikes of unknown origin in eastern Syria, according to a war monitor. The strikes targeted positions in the city of Deir Ezzor and the Boukamal region near the border with Iraq. Five of the strikes hit military positions near Deir Ezzor airport. Israel has carried out numerous strikes against pro-Iranian groups in eastern Syria, while the US has also targeted such groups in the country's east. Israeli authorities rarely comment on individual strikes in Syria but have repeatedly stated their opposition to Iran's presence in the region.
