The United States and Canada have imposed sanctions on the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, accusing it of being a 'sham charity' that fundraises for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terror group. The PFLP, designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the US, uses Samidoun to fundraise in Europe and North America. Germany banned the group's activities last year. The Treasury's acting under-secretary for terrorism and financial intelligence stated that organizations like Samidoun divert funds meant for humanitarian support to terrorist groups. The PFLP's leadership abroad was also targeted with sanctions.
