Sgt. Maj. Yorai Cohen, a police officer in the Yamam counter-terrorism unit, was killed on October 7 battling Hamas at the Sha'ar Hanegev Junction. He is survived by his wife, daughter, parents, and siblings. Yorai served in the Paratroopers Brigade during his mandatory IDF service and fought in the 2014 Gaza war. He joined the Israel Police in January 2020 and served in the Yamam unit as a squad commander. His family remembers him as a loving father and devoted soccer fan.
