The footage was recovered from Gaza several months ago and contradicts attempts by some Hamas supporters to portray Sinwar's final moments as proof of a heroic death. The IDF spokesperson revealed that Sinwar hid underground for most of the past year, only coming out to escape with bodyguards and supplies. The IDF found an underground fortress built by Sinwar, which contained various amenities and supplies. Sinwar was killed by IDF troops on Wednesday, marking the first time he encountered IDF forces in Gaza since hiding underground for a year.
