The Al-Qard al-Hassan association, an alternative to Lebanon's banking system and linked to Hezbollah, was targeted by the IDF to prevent funding to the Iran-backed terror group. Originally founded to aid families in need, it has become a bank and is one of Hezbollah's central financial assets. The association has been under sanctions since 2016 and holds significant amounts of gold. In 2021, its data was breached, exposing accounts of sanctioned Hezbollah members and its dealings with other financial institutions in violation of sanctions.
