Nova festival survivor takes own life; family blames state for ignoring PTSD

Shirel Golan, a survivor of the Hamas massacre at the Nova music festival, took her own life on her 22nd birthday after struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for a year. Her brother blames the state for failing to provide her with the necessary treatment for her emotional and mental issues. Golan and her partner were among the partygoers who managed to escape the attack, but she developed symptoms of PTSD in the following months. Despite being hospitalized twice, she was never recognized as a PTSD sufferer. The Welfare and Social Services Ministry claims to provide assistance and support to survivors in various forms.
