Nearly one in two Muslims in the EU face racism and discrimination in their daily life, according to the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). The FRA has reported a 'sharp rise' in anti-Muslim hatred, even before the recent Hamas attack against Israel. The highest rates of discrimination were recorded in Austria, Germany, and Finland. Muslim women, men, and children are targeted not just because of their religion, but also because of their skin color and ethnic or immigrant background. The survey conducted by the FRA also revealed a surge in anti-Muslim racism in the job market, affecting other areas of life such as housing, education, and healthcare.
