Hamas wants Russia to push Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to begin negotiations on a national unity government for post-war Gaza, according to a senior Hamas official. The Palestinian Authority, controlled by Abbas' Fatah political faction, has a strained relationship with Hamas, the Islamist movement that runs Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opposes the PA being involved in running Gaza.
