Saudi Arabia's Heritage Commission plans to expand research and excavation efforts at new mustatil sites in the Kingdom, focusing on the environmental dimensions and linking them to climate changes. These studies aim to provide a deeper understanding of ancient societies and their adaptation to the natural environment. The mustatils are among the oldest archaeological structures in the Middle East, dating back to between 4200 and 5400 B.C. The Ministry of Culture is conducting extensive studies on these structures, which are mostly found in the northwestern part of the country.
