The cancelation came after an Islamist lawmaker called on authorities to ban the reading, citing it as a form of 'cultural normalization with Zionists.' Another book reading in Tizi Ouzou was also called off. The book's author, Hedia Bensahli, stated that the book is about Algeria and not about what's happening in other parts of the world.
