A Greek oil tanker that was attacked by Yemen's Houthi rebels in August has started transferring its cargo of over a million barrels to another tanker in the port of Suez. The Sounion caught fire and lost power after the attack, and its crew was rescued the following day. The operation to tow the vessel to safety required a tugboat escorted by three frigates, helicopters, and a special forces team. Experts had warned that if the vessel had broken up or exploded, it could have caused an oil spill four times larger than the Exxon Valdez spill in 1989.
