The mastermind behind an Iranian assassination plot targeting former President Donald Trump was deported from the US after serving time in prison for robbery. Farhad Shakeri, along with three other defendants, is accused of attempting to assassinate Trump, Iranian-American activist Masih Alinejad, and two Jewish businessmen. While two of the defendants have been arrested, Shakeri remains at large in Iran. The plot was orchestrated by Tehran in revenge for the killing of Qassem Soleimani, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) tasked Shakeri with surveilling and killing Trump. The disturbing documents unsealed by the Department of Justice revealed the weapons and plans the assassins had at their disposal.
