The United States has charged an Iranian man in connection with an alleged plot to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump, according to the Department of Justice. Farhad Shakeri, a Revolutionary Guard asset residing in Tehran, was tasked with providing a plan to kill Trump, but he did not intend to formulate such a plan within the given time frame. Two New York residents who had met Shakeri in prison were also charged with helping him plot to kill a U.S. citizen of Iranian origin in New York. The target is believed to be journalist and activist Masih Alinejad, who has previously been targeted for murder.
