Religious leaders at the UN climate conference COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, urged their followers and world leaders to take action on the climate crisis. Speakers at an event hosted by the Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development emphasized the moral authority of faith leaders and their ability to inspire and mobilize communities. Lisa Graumlich, a climate scientist and deacon of the Episcopal Church, highlighted the limitations of scientific understanding alone in driving transformative change. She called on religious institutions to use their trusted voices to educate and shift public attitudes towards climate action. The conference, attended by nearly 66,800 people, includes a Faith Pavilion with 40 events and 200 speakers.
