The man charged with shooting and wounding three college students of Palestinian descent in Vermont last year has been declared fit to stand trial. Jason Eaton is accused of shooting and seriously injuring Hisham Awartani, Kinnan Abdalhamid, and Tahseen Ali Ahmad. The students were shot while walking in Eaton's neighborhood near the University of Vermont. Eaton pleaded not guilty to three counts of attempted murder and has been held without bail since his arrest. The shooting has raised concerns about hate crimes against Jewish, Muslim, and Arab communities.
