Ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's has filed a lawsuit against parent company Unilever, claiming that it has silenced its attempts to express support for Palestinian refugees and threatened legal action against its board members. The lawsuit comes after a rift between the two companies in 2021 when Ben & Jerry's announced it would stop selling its products in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Ben & Jerry's previously sued Unilever for selling its business in Israel to its licensee there, which allowed marketing in the West Bank and Israel to continue. The new lawsuit alleges that Unilever has breached the terms of a 2022 settlement that required it to respect the independence of Ben & Jerry's board.
