Israeli troops reached their deepest point in Lebanon since invading six weeks ago before pulling back after battles with Hezbollah militants. Israeli troops captured a strategic hill in the southern Lebanese village of Chamaa before being pushed back. Israeli warplanes also pounded Beirut's southern suburbs and other areas in southern Lebanon. The increase in violence comes as Lebanese and Hezbollah officials are studying a draft proposal presented by the US on ending the war.
