The US has imposed sanctions on six senior Hamas officials, targeting representatives abroad, a senior member of the Hamas military wing, and those involved in supporting fundraising efforts and weapons smuggling into Gaza. The Treasury Department stated that these officials maintain legitimate roles within the group but facilitate terrorist activities and coordinate the transfer of money and goods into Gaza. Among those targeted is Abd Al-Rahman Ismail abd Al-Rahman Ghanimat, a longtime member of Hamas's military wing based in Turkiye. The US has warned Turkiye against hosting Hamas leadership, stating that leaders of a terrorist organization should not be living comfortably.
