Israeli soldiers in Gaza reportedly helped a settler leader enter the Strip to survey potential sites for Jewish settlements, going against their superiors' orders. The settler leader, Daniella Weiss, toured the Israeli side of the Gaza border fence with her colleagues and eventually crossed the border into the Strip. Soldiers she was acquainted with allegedly picked up Weiss and her fellow activists and transported them deeper into the Strip. The settlers were then reportedly transported back to the Gaza border through an unofficial portal. The IDF has stated that Weiss's entrance into Gaza was not approved and is being examined.
