Irish peacekeepers received a warm welcome home at Dublin Airport after six months in Lebanon. Family and friends of over 200 troops gathered in the arrivals hall, holding banners and waving flags as they eagerly awaited the reunion. The Irish Defence Forces walked through the sliding doors to tears and cheers from their loved ones. The troops had served with the UN in southern Lebanon during escalating hostilities in the Middle East. They were part of the United Nations Interim Force Lebanon (Unifil) and had escaped injury when their military camp was struck by a rocket last month.
