The ceasefire deal between Israel and Hezbollah is unlikely to hold, according to a former head of MI6. Richard Dearlove stated that the deal is a 'retreaded agreement from 2006' and that the previous agreement did nothing to keep Hezbollah away from the border region with Israel. While the deal may benefit both Israel and Hezbollah in the short term, Dearlove believes it will leave Iran 'exposed' as one of its allies is temporarily incapacitated. However, he also warned that if Iran were to launch another ballistic missile attack, it could escalate into direct confrontation between Israel and Iran.
