The Swiss government has decided against banning Hezbollah in Lebanon, despite previously drafting a law to ban Hamas activities. The government stated that the conditions for a ban on Hezbollah had not been met and that the existing law required UN sanctions or a ban to be in place. The lower house of parliament's security committee had called for a comprehensive ban on Hezbollah, stating that it is a radical Islamic terrorist organization responsible for acts of violence and human rights violations. The government's position will be considered by parliament during its December session.
