Ben Gvir instructs police to stop mosques from using speakers for call to prayer

Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has instructed the police to confiscate speakers from mosques and fine them for noise in an attempt to stop the broadcast of calls to prayer. Jewish residents have long complained about the excessive noise coming from mosques, particularly the predawn Fajr prayer. Mayors of Arab towns see this move as a provocation that could lead to chaos and riots. The Abraham Initiatives organization accuses Ben Gvir of politicizing the police, while Arab Islamist Ra'am party chair Mansour Abbas urges restraint. Ben Gvir defends the policy, stating that prayer should not come at the expense of residents' quality of life.
