Rabbi Zvi Kogan, an Israeli-Moldovan national and resident of the UAE, felt safe and cherished his life in the country, according to his family. Kogan, who was working with the Chabad movement to support the Jewish community in the UAE, was reported missing and later found dead. The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, but three Uzbek nationals have been identified as suspects. Kogan was known for his involvement in the Jewish community, delivering challah and helping operate the only kosher supermarket in the UAE. His murder has brought attention to the relationship between Israel and the UAE, as well as Israel's ties with other Gulf states.
