Russian war bloggers, close to the Russian Defense Ministry, state that the most immediate threat is to the future of the Hmeimim air base and the Tartous facility, which is Russia's only Mediterranean repair and replenishment hub. The Russian air force has been helping government forces launch air strikes against insurgents, but war bloggers warn that losing the Hmeimim air base would mean losing 75% of Moscow's capabilities in Syria.
