The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claims that Israel has launched more than 60 strikes on Syrian territory in a few hours. Israel fired 61 missiles at Syrian military sites in less than five hours on Saturday evening, maintaining a campaign that started after rebel forces toppled President Bashar al-Assad nearly a week ago. Jerusalem says the campaign is necessary to prevent the Assad regime's military arsenal from falling into the hands of jihadist rulers or arming Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has been accused of false reporting and inflating casualty numbers.
