The Giving Pledge, a philanthropy group led by Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, has removed Arif Naqvi, the founder of the Abraaj Group, a private equity firm accused of fraud. Naqvi is the third person to be forcibly removed from the group. The Giving Pledge community does not enforce its members' commitments, but exceptions are made when the group feels its brand is threatened by misconduct. Naqvi's name was quietly removed from the Giving Pledge's website this year.
