The truce went into effect on November 27, but both sides have accused each other of violating it. The UN force called for the timely withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon and the full implementation of Resolution 1701, which calls for Lebanese troops and UN peacekeepers to be the only forces in southern Lebanon. The IDF has until late January to withdraw from southern Lebanon.
