He reported damage to infrastructure but stated that he remained safe. Other UN staff were also safe but their departure was delayed until repairs could be made. Tedros was in Yemen to seek the release of detained UN staff and assess the health and humanitarian situations in the country. The Israeli air strikes came after attacks on Israel by Iran-backed Houthis.
