Ukraine has sent its first batch of food aid to Syria as part of its humanitarian initiative. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that 500 metric tons of wheat flour are on their way to Syria and will be distributed to 33,250 families. Each package weighs 15 kilograms and can feed a family of five for one month. Ukraine aims to restore relations with Syria after the ouster of Bashar Assad, a close Russian ally. This move comes as Russian wheat supplies to Syria have been suspended due to uncertainty.
