A poll conducted by Channel 12 shows that 47 percent of Israelis believe Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's fear of his government collapsing is the reason for no hostage deal. 43 percent of respondents attribute the lack of a deal to Hamas's intransigence, while 10 percent are unsure of the reason. Netanyahu's far-right coalition partners have threatened to bring down the government if he agrees to the current hostage deal under discussion. Netanyahu has rejected the tradeoff of ending the war in exchange for the release of the remaining 100 hostages, arguing that it would allow Hamas to reconstitute.
