Egypt has completed a trial run of a new 10km channel near the southern end of the Suez Canal. Revenue from the waterway has decreased due to attacks by Yemen's Houthi militants in the Red Sea. The expansion will increase the canal's capacity and enhance its ability to handle emergencies.
