Top IDF lawyer says troops not adequately accounting for civilians before Gaza strikes

Military Advocate General Maj. Gen. Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi has criticized the IDF for not adequately assessing the size of the civilian population in areas of the Gaza Strip before conducting strikes. The IDF's incorrect assessment has hindered their ability to determine collateral damage and has resulted in insufficient aid being allowed into the area. An internal probe found that civilian casualties were not excessive and enough aid had entered Beit Lahiya, but an external panel will investigate the matter further.
