A new study has found that Rujm el-Hiri, an ancient stone megalithic structure in the Golan Heights, was unlikely used as an observatory as previously believed. The study utilized advanced remote sensing technology and data analysis to determine that the structure had shifted and rotated since its construction around 3000-2700 BCE. The original alignment of the walls and entrances does not correspond to celestial observations, challenging the theory that it was an astronomical observatory. The purpose of Rujm el-Hiri, also known as the 'Stonehenge of the East,' remains unknown.
