Israel is considering restricting humanitarian aid entering Gaza once Donald Trump takes office, in an effort to dismantle Hamas's governing capabilities. Hamas charges fees for the release of aid convoys, and further restrictions would worsen the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The security establishment has warned that military pressure against Hamas without a viable alternative could allow the terror group to fill any temporary vacuums created by IDF operations. Despite offers of assistance from Arab allies, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has refused to grant the Palestinian Authority a foothold in Gaza to replace Hamas.
