President Joe Biden has awarded the United States' top civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, to George Soros, a Holocaust survivor and billionaire donor to progressive and Democratic causes. Soros's giving has made him a frequent target of criticism and invective from right-wingers, some of which has been explicitly antisemitic. Biden's decision to give Soros the honor has sparked criticism from conservatives, including Elon Musk. Soros's son accepted the award on behalf of his father, who is 94. Two other Jews, David Rubenstein and Ralph Lauren, also received the honor.
