The Israel Defense Forces detained a French freelance journalist and his fixer in southern Syria on Wednesday, inside a buffer zone now controlled by the Israeli military. The journalist and his fixer were released after being interrogated by IDF troops. The journalist claimed that they were mistreated and had their belongings stolen by the Israeli forces. The IDF has deployed troops to the buffer zone following the fall of the Assad regime.
