The Israeli military has implemented new restrictions on media coverage of soldiers on active combat duty to protect them from potential legal action over allegations of war crimes. Soldiers of the rank of colonel and under will not be allowed to have their full names or faces displayed during interviews. These rules are similar to those already in place for pilots and special forces units. The move comes after an Israeli reservist left Brazil abruptly following allegations of war crimes made by a pro-Palestinian group. Activist groups have been connecting soldiers' social media posts from war zones to their activities while on holiday abroad.
