Israel and the United Arab Emirates have expressed concern over Turkey's military presence and influence in Syria and have sought mediation from Cyprus. President Isaac Herzog and the Emirati foreign minister separately met with the president of Cyprus to discuss the situation in Syria. The meetings took place after Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides attended a trilateral summit in Cairo. There is a convergence of views among Israel, the UAE, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and other neighboring countries regarding the future of the region and the impact of events in Syria.
