An oil tanker that was struck and sabotaged by Yemen's Houthi militia, threatening a massive oil spill in the Red Sea, has been successfully salvaged after weeks of burning. The Greek-flagged Sounion tanker had 1 million barrels of crude oil aboard when it was attacked. The Houthis targeted the vessel with small arms fire, projectiles, and a drone boat before planting explosives and igniting them. The Houthis have targeted around 100 merchant vessels with missiles and drones since the war in Gaza began in October 2023.
