Israeli startup FireDome is developing a wildfire defense system inspired by the Iron Dome air defense system. The system uses defense tactics and AI technology to detect and suppress fires, providing two layers of protection. First, capsules containing eco-friendly fire-retardant are released to create a protective barrier. Second, an AI-powered system detects and extinguishes spot fires caused by airborne embers. FireDome plans to have the first system ready for testing in Israel in May and aims to start pilot sites in the US in 2026. The startup has received $3 million in seed funding and a $1.5 million grant from the Israeli Innovation Authority.
