Government ministers vote in favor of approving hostage-ceasefire deal with Hamas

The Israeli government has approved a hostage-ceasefire agreement with Hamas, with 24 ministers voting in favor and eight opposed. The deal will enter into force on Sunday, with the first three Israeli hostages set to be freed. Opponents of the deal can petition the High Court of Justice against the release of Palestinian security prisoners, but the court is unlikely to intervene. The agreement has caused divisions within the government, with some ministers voting against it. However, the majority of the Israeli public supports continuing the deal into the second phase.
