The far-right Otzma Yehudit party, led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, will quit the Israeli coalition government in protest of Israel's acceptance of a hostage-ceasefire deal with Hamas. Fellow far-right party Religious Zionism will remain in the government despite opposing the agreement. Israel is set to release up to 1,904 Palestinian prisoners and detainees in return for 33 Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip. Otzma Yehudit leader Ben Gvir criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for offering him incentives to not resign, calling the deal 'terrible' and warning of future kidnappings. Religious Zionism leader Bezalel Smotrich condemned the deal but said his party would remain in the government after Netanyahu agreed to some of his demands.
