Greek authorities have rescued over 170 migrants in the past three days, with most found off the southern tip of the country. The migrants were picked up from rickety boats, indicating an increasing use of this route by traffickers. The coast guard reported that a passing tanker rescued 29 people south of Crete, while a cargo ship rescued 45 people south of Gavdos. Additionally, a patrol boat intercepted a speedboat near Tilos, resulting in the arrest of the alleged driver and the discovery of 31 people. Another 68 people were located in separate cases in Crete and Gavdos. The migrants stated that they had set sail from Tobruk in Libya and were heading to Greece.
