US President Donald Trump insists that Jordan and Egypt will support a proposal to resettle Palestinians in their countries rather than in a rebuilt Gaza Strip, despite both countries rejecting the proposal. Trump stated that Jordan and Egypt will do it, as the US does a lot for them. However, Egyptian President Abdel Fatah el-Sissi explicitly rejected the proposal, stating that it would impact Egyptian national security. Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, who recently visited Gaza, stated that there is almost nothing left of the war-ravaged enclave and that rebuilding could take 10 to 15 years.
