The UN Palestinian relief agency, UNRWA, continues its humanitarian work in the occupied territories and Gaza despite an Israeli ban that took effect on Friday. The ban, which prohibits operations by UNRWA on Israeli land and contact with Israeli authorities, has raised concerns from Britain, France, and Germany. Humanitarian agencies warn that the ban will have a significant impact on Gaza as staff and supplies transit through Israel. UNRWA's director of communications, Juliette Touma, stated that any disruptions to their work in Gaza would put the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas at risk. UNRWA provides education, healthcare, and other services to tens of thousands of Palestinian refugees in occupied East Jerusalem. The agency's staff in the West Bank and East Jerusalem are facing difficulties, including stone-throwing and hold-ups at checkpoints.
